There is an increasing annoyance with the absurdity of all these fashion seasons. What used to be Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter now has pre-fall, resort and all sorts of made-up seasons. Add to this the fact that different countries (like Brazil & Australia, for example) have their seasons at different times from Europe and America, and how global warming has screwed up all sense of seasons, and it has become quite clear that the traditional formulas do not work in catering to a universal audience. However, that is exactly what must be done. The Internet has brought the world together, and the fashion industry, which is supposed to be all about forward thinking, has largely failed to adapt and capitalize on it.
It’s for these reasons that I really like the operational mode of Fail-ure, a fashion line of t-shirts, sweaters and tanks by the Serial Cut team. They keep it very simple: produce a single ‘All-in-One’ collection each year, and sell it online. So wherever you live, whatever your time zone and season, you can easily get them. Take a look at their new collection, photographed and styled by Robert Bartholot.
